I have had an active interest in photography since 1978, as a student studying a B.A Degree
in English and Politics I worked part time for a local newspaper as a "photo journalist",
taking photographs and writing the accompanying stories.
Once graduated I found gainful employment at Eskom as an Industrial Photographer working
at plants like Koeberg and finally Rosherville Power Station, liasing with Engineers, Chemists
and Architects etc. eventually ending up in the Communications department at MegaWat Park.
In 1987 I relocated and started to persue a career in printing in London, when I finally came
home to Cape Town I freelanced as a writer and photographer for the Cape Times (1990),
mainly taking society photographs for the Top of The Times.
In 1994 Business Report appointed me as their official photographer, by which time I was persuing
photography as a full time career. Business Report was (until 2002) South Africa's largest business
broadsheet. I had also branched out and was taking photographs for Public Relations Companies,
Hotels and Corporates as well as "stringing" for British Newspapers (which I still do till this day).
Some career highlights included being a photographer at Nelson Mandela's 80th birthday celebration,
Queen Elizabeths visit to Cape Town, Official Photographer to the opening of the Mandela Gateway to
Robben Island, Official Photographer for the opening of the Arabella Sheraton - Cape Town and the
Official Photographer at the Oprah Winfrey - Nelson Mandela Function - Kirstenbosch.
I have a number of corporate clients (see client page) including, Caltex, Vodacom, Safmarine, Pick n Pay
Shell, S.A Rugby, Investec, I&J, Secunjalo, Mens Health, Finance Week etc.
